Recent violations of private property.

With parks closing due to Covid-19, we have been getting MANY complaints about an increase in traffic and parked vehicles on our private roads. We have confirmed with the county and CHP that these roads are indeed considered private property and are NOT open to the public. We had hoped that outsiders would respect this, but sadly, there are always those who like to defy rules and laws for their own convenience. If you see cars parked on your section of the road/shoulder, feel free to politely let the vehicle owners know that these roads are all considered private property, and that they cannot park here. There are signs at the entrance of our community which are easily seen driving in. If the vehicle occupants become aggressive or argumentative, don’t put yourself in a dangerous or uncomfortable position, simply call the CHP and inform them that we have clear signs entering our roads (per CHP instructions) stating these are private roads, and let them know if the violators became aggressive and refused to leave during your conversation.

Regardless of if the vehicle owners are present or not, please make a note of their Liscense plates, the date and time, and notes of any conversations between you, if there were any. Also, feel free to leave a kind note on some paper and put it under their wipers if they weren’t present.

We don’t wish to be unfriendly, but the state has closed parking lots and parks, and we cannot afford to maintain our roads as it is, let alone add more traffic to them.

This problem is partially temporary, as state parking will reopen at some point. However, we have learned through this that folks down rattlesnake Bar road have been using our roads to access our trailheads for awhile. We pay for this trailhead, we pay for our roads, we have bought our access. They have not. Living close does not mean they pay our fees. It’s time to buckle down and protect our mutual driveway from the extra wear and tear.
